Subscription Plans

Legalock offers two subscription tiers:

Payment Terms

• Premium subscription fees are billed annually and charged on the day you upgrade to a premium plan
• Payments are processed securely through Stripe, our payment processor
• You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from your account settings
• Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period
• We reserve the right to change subscription fees with 30 days' advance notice

Refunds and Cancellation

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable except as required by law. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and you will continue to have access to premium features until the end of your current billing period.

Upon cancellation or downgrade, premium features will become inaccessible, but your data will be preserved according to our data retention policies.

Your Content Rights

Our Service allows you to store, upload, submit, and share content, including documents, text, media files, and other materials ("User Content"). You retain all rights in, and are solely responsible for, the User Content you upload, post, or share.

By uploading User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

File Upload Limitations

• Document Vault: 2GB total storage for premium users
• Memorial Media: Maximum 100MB per file (Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP; Videos: MP4, WebM, QuickTime)
• Time Capsules: Text-based messages with reasonable length limits
• All uploaded content must comply with our acceptable use policies

Data Security and Encryption

Your sensitive data is protected using AES-256-GCM encryption, ensuring that your information remains secure both in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data.

Optional two-factor authentication (2FA) is available to provide additional account security, with verification codes valid for 1 hour.

Data Export and Portability

You can export your data at any time from Settings > Data Export. This provides you with a comprehensive copy of all your information stored in Legalock in JSON format.

Trustee Designation

The Legalock trustee system allows you to designate individuals who will have access to your legacy information after your passing is verified. By designating a trustee, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You are granting permission for the trustee to access your account information after your passing is verified through our verification process
• You are responsible for ensuring your trustees understand their responsibilities and the scope of their access
• You can designate up to 1 trustee on the free plan or unlimited trustees on the premium plan
• You can revoke or modify trustee access at any time while you are alive
• Trustees must accept their designation and create an account to access your legacy information

Trustee Responsibilities and Limitations

• Trustees are responsible for carrying out your documented wishes and instructions
• Trustees have access only to the information and permissions you specifically grant them
• Legalock is not responsible for the actions taken by your trustees or disputes between trustees
• Trustees cannot modify your legacy information, only view and act upon it according to your instructions
• Trustee access is granted only after proper verification of your passing through our established procedures

Verification Process

Access to legacy information is granted only after verification of passing through documentation such as death certificates or other legally acceptable proof. This process ensures the security and integrity of your legacy information.

Tax Information Features

Our premium service includes AI-powered tax explanations and optimization recommendations using Claude Sonnet 4 by Anthropic. These features are designed to provide general educational information about tax matters based on your citizenship and tax residency information.

• Tax explanations and optimization recommendations are limited to one generation per day
• Information provided is for educational purposes only and should not be considered professional tax advice
• You should consult with qualified tax professionals for specific tax planning and compliance matters
• AI-generated responses are based on general tax principles and may not reflect the most current tax laws or your specific situation

AI Service Limitations

While we strive to provide accurate and helpful information through our AI services, you acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information
• The service provides general guidance and should not replace professional advice
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content
• You use AI-generated information at your own risk and discretion

Termination by Legalock

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms, engage in prohibited uses, or violate applicable laws.

In cases of suspected fraudulent activity or security breaches, we reserve the right to immediately suspend access while investigating the matter.

Termination by User

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us to request account deletion or by using the account deletion feature in your settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

If you have a premium subscription, cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period unless you request immediate termination.

Data Retention and Legacy Access

Upon account termination, your data will be retained according to our data retention policies to ensure trustee access remains available for legacy purposes. Personal data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

Trustee access to your legacy information will remain available even after account termination, as this is a core function of our service.

In no event shall Legalock, nor its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

• Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service
• Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service, including trustees
• Any content obtained from the Service or AI-generated recommendations
• Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content
• Any errors or omissions in AI-generated tax information or recommendations
• Any disputes between you and your designated trustees
• Any technical failures, interruptions, or data loss

Maximum Liability

In no event shall our total liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action exceed the amount you have paid to Legalock in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to such liability.

General Service Disclaimer

Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or course of performance.

Legalock does not warrant that: (a) the Service will function uninterrupted, secure, or available at any particular time or location; (b) any errors or defects will be corrected; (c) the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components; or (d) the results of using the Service will meet your requirements.
